Online workshop – Unlock your creativity

If creativity is first and foremost a matter of the mind, when it comes to digital images, knowledge of the tools is essential to transcribe it. Indeed, creative images often requires the use of several tools and techniques. In this field, Adobe Photoshop software is the reference. It is therefore the perfect tool.

This very complete workshop will introduce you to the field of creative editing , teach you the necessary techniques, and give you a solid foundation to express your creativity. The techniques you will learn can be applied to different image styles.

The workshop consists of 3 parts.

• First session :  tools in Photoshop :
  (Sunday September 11th, 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm French time - CEST (Central European Summer Time) – Time zone : UTC+2).

Advanced selection techniques : a photomontage usually starts with the selection of one or more elements of an image. You will learn to master the techniques that will allow you to make very precise selections. Each image has its own characteristics, and you will learn to use the appropriate tools accordingly.
The mastery of selections is a fundamental element in the use of Photoshop, and that is why a particular accent will be put on this point.

Layer mask : here again, this feature is one of the most important in the use of Photoshop. If its knowledge is often acquired for a regular user, we will especially see some advanced specificities on it.

Colours : as a photomontage is generally the assembly of several elements from different images, it is important that the final result is photorealistic. Indeed, the colorimetry, for example, can be different from one image to another. It will be necessary to make the necessary adjustments to obtain a balanced result. During the course you will learn how to balance the different elements.

Blur and sharpening (motion, radial, etc.) :
While the application of this type of filters is simple to implement on an entire image, here you will study techniques for placing them in a localized and original way.

Filters :
You will discover in this course the use of several filters from the Nik Collection by DXO plugin. Some of them contribute to work an atmosphere in a very simple way. If you don’t use these plugins, you can download the free trial version on DXO website.

• Second session : photomontage and creation of moods :
  (Sunday September 18th , 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm French time – CEST (Central European Summer Time) – Time zone : UTC+2).

Photomontage : several photomontages in the form of an exercise will be made during the workshop.
These photomontages will use the different techniques detailed above.

Mood :
The overall mood in a creative image is almost always modified from the original (SOOC) image. You will learn how to create different moods, sometimes with global applications on the image, but more often by playing with lights and shadows in a localized way. The creation of rays of light, the dramatization of the sky, or the creation of mist, all contribute strongly to the overall atmosphere. You will learn all these techniques, which will allow you to achieve creative and powerful results.

Tips and tricks :
Throughout the course, several tips will be presented to you.

Working files provided to practice (psd, jpeg).

• Third session : image reviews :
  (Sunday September 25th , 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm French time – CEST (Central European Summer Time) – Time zone : UTC+2).

During this session, I will review your images.

Who is this workshop for :
This workshop is for all image editing enthusiasts who want to learn techniques to create creative images. This workshop can also be used to improve your knowledge of Photoshop.

Prerequisites :
To follow this workshop, an intermediate level of knowledge of Photoshop is required (good knowledge of the use of layers and blending masks, smart objects, geometric selection tools).

Questions and answers :
During the different stages of the 3 sessions, questions may be asked.
Also, 30 minutes will be devoted at the end of each session for a question and answer session.

How the workshop is run :
This workshop is offered online and live. The ZOOM video conferencing application will be used. The connection is established in a few clicks. You do not need to create an account or subscribe to Zoom to participate in the workshop. An invitation link will be sent to you by e-mail before each session. You will then simply be asked to download the application, in order to get the user interface. It is very easy to learn. This workshop is accompanied by a video for each session.
It is recorded live during the workshop.
The recording will be sent to you in MP4 format, via WeTransfer, after each session.
