Presentation:
Creating a reflection can give a really interesting visual impact to an image. The effect works very well on architecture, but not exclusively.
Here we're in the realm of creative retouching, without any absolute quest for photo realism, but with the idea of getting as close as possible to it.
Several methods are possible, from the simplest, creating a mirror effect, to the most technical.
In this course, you'll learn how to create reflection images using these different approaches and techniques.
This is a very comprehensive course, in which many technical points will be covered and detailed.

Course content :

  • Presentation of this image style: I'll explain in a few words my creative approach to this image style.
  • Shooting tips.
  • Sky cropping: this involves working on an alpha layer to separate the sky from the subject. This highly effective technique preserves the small, sometimes very fine details found on architectural roofs (antennas, etc.).
  • Mask enhancement: here you'll learn how to refine the selection on the fusion mask, and, if necessary, by working with a brush where required.
  • Enlarged work area: the image size will be increased to leave space for the reflection.
  • Placement of subject, sky and reflection: 2 approaches will be explained. Here, we'll use the transformation tool and its features.
  • Motion effects: the various blur filters required will be reviewed. As this work is carried out on dynamic objects, their operation will be explained.
  • Wave effect: creating this effect will bring photo realism to the image. The method will be described in detail.
  • Finalizing the image: photomontage often requires a few adjustments. There are also a number of possibilities for creating a more creative look. Here's an overview.
  • Q&A: we'll review the concepts we've studied, and I'll answer any questions you may have.

Notes :
This course consists of a theoretical and a practical part. I will adapt and alternate these two parts according to the knowledge you have already acquired, and the techniques I will introduce to you.

For the practical part, you will be guided through the image creation process.

Video summary:
This course is accompanied by a video summary.
It is recorded during the course and summarizes the key points. Also, depending on your specific needs, which will be assessed during the course, certain additional points may be added to the video.
The video summary will be sent to you in MP4 format, via WeTransfer, after the course.

2 avis pour Cours Photoshop créer un reflet

  1. Claire Laur-Schneider (confirmed customer) -

Having already attended a course on creating reflections at a workshop in Rotterdam with David, I took this course to solve technical problems I was having with my own photos, in more complex scenarios. He asked me to send him my RAWs and created a tailor-made course, answering all my questions! Bravo for his adaptability!

Everything is explained and the process patiently demonstrated. Then it's on to the practical application, which David corrects live.

A distance learning course with all the qualities of a face-to-face course, and even better: the video of the course is recorded, enabling you to review problematic passages as many times as you like until you have mastered the techniques taught.

    I highly recommend it!

  2. Judith Guenther (confirmed customer) -

My first online one-on-one course with David on "Creating Reflections" was incredible! amazing! fantastic! and every other excited adjective I can think of. I've never had a one-on-one course like this, and it made so much difference to first watch David demonstrate how to do something and then to share my screen with him and have him help me complete the same steps. It wasn't just learning how to create a reflection-it was so much more! He looked at my Photoshop workspace setup and made great suggestions for improvement. He carefully demonstrated and explained as I did the work. He was never too fast with his instructions, and if I asked him to repeat something so that I could understand, he did it without hesitation.

All of the techniques David taught me can be used in many different ways on different images in ways I had never imagined. I'm so excited to put what I learned into practice. And having a video recording of the entire session will give me the tools to review the steps, stop and start when necessary, and make the learning really sink in.

David is an expert educator whom I would recommend without any reservation to all photographers who want to advance their skills, both technically and creatively. Take this course!
