Description

Aesthetic Architectural Art

For this second collaboration with John, we invite you to immerse yourself in our world of excellence: Fine Art Architecture, explored through two complementary visions.

John will reveal his unique way of creating images, enhanced with tones he himself defines as Gold and Silver, embodying elegance and refinement.
As for me, I will showcase a high-contrast black and white approach, where the strength of lines and the depth of shadows bring out the full architectural power of the subjects.

By combining our distinct perspectives, we offer you a unique visual experience, at the crossroads of two bold and timeless aesthetics.

Workshop content :

John Kosmopoulos session (October 5, 2025) :

Step into the world of fine art editing and discover how to transform your photographs into striking gold and silver (GnS) masterpieces. In this 2-hour Photoshop workshop, we will employ creative techniques that bring depth, elegance, and timeless style to your architectural photography.  In this session, we will explore:

  • How to edit from raw capture through to luminous fine art interpretation using a flexible workflow.
  • Methods for creating rich gold and silver tonalities that enhance atmosphere and mood.
  • The creative use of gradient maps and other processes to expand your palette of fine art aesthetics.
  • Approaches for sculpting with light, shadow, and contrast to craft depth and sophistication.

This is a workshop for photographers who see their work not just as images, but as art, and view photography as a pursuit of life-long creativity.

By the end of the session, you’ll have not only learn how to create a finished set of gold-and-silver fine art images but also a broader creative toolkit for experimenting with tonal treatments in your own practice that also captivates across multiple photographic styles and genres such as landscape, florals, portraits, and more.

David Duchens session (October 19, 2025) :

  • Presentation of this image style: I’ll explain in a few words my technical and creative approach to these monochrome images.
  • Shooting conditions: I’ll give you some advice on how to get the best possible images for initial retouching, starting in the best possible conditions.
  • Opening images in Photoshop: at this stage, a few additional adjustments will be made to the image.
  • Tools required: we’ll review the main tools we’ll be using for creation (including selection tools, layer masks, adjustment layers, smart objects and filters). There are many possibilities and choices when using Photoshop, but here I’ll suggest some simple and effective ones.
  • Preparing selections: this is where the creative process begins. Here you’ll learn how to make your choices, by selecting different areas of the image, and thus prepare it for the following stages.
In this workshop, I’ll introduce several selection techniques, depending on the complexity of the subject to be selected (geometric selection tools, alpha channel, mask mode, pen tool).
To do this, several basic photos will be used and explained in detail.
  • Creating lighting effects: you’ll learn the different techniques for creating lighting effects for this style of image.
Several possibilities will be explained, depending on the materials and textures of the architectural elements.
  • Replacing the sky: if the sky is present in the composition (which is almost always the case), you’ll learn how to replace it.
As the sky is an important element in the creative process, a number of effects will be explained.
  • Creating the overall mood: at this stage, I’ll explain a number of techniques for creating the final mood of the image. We’ll be working on contrasts in particular.
In this workshop, I’m also adding the creation of lighting effects through the use of ray-brushes.
  • Corrections and finalization: here we’ll work on any minor retouching. I’ll also teach you two additional techniques for fine-tuning the lighting effects. Finally, I’ll give you a few tips for improving certain aspects of the image.
  • Using plug-ins : although they’re not necessary for image creation, over the years I’ve discovered softwares that can be used to create or add interesting effects (Boris FX Optics,Nik Collection). I’ll show you how they work and what they can do.
