Preamble :
With this workshop, I am glad to announce my first collaboration with Sharon Tenenbaum.

Sharon defines herself as an artist working within the medium of photography.  The artistic process is paramount in every creation she completes.  She always aspires to ‘show reality in a different way’, creating images rather than capturing them. Sharon is constantly challenging herself : whether experimenting with bicycle parts to create composite cityscapes or painting selective overlays onto her images. She is committed to the artistic process of growth and change in the continuous pursuit for novelty.
Sharon was educated as a Civil Engineer.   Her love for structures is reflected in a vast body of works that celebrate more than mere architecture, but rather, the Art in Architecture.
As an artist, Sharon has won numerous international photography awards, has been published in esteemed magazines such as National Geographic. As an educator, Sharon has taught group workshops from New York to Melbourne, as well as online.  She has a variety of video tutorials and ebooks and is the founder of Talk-&-Learn, a free one-hour weekly zoom session for image critique and creation.

Contents of the workshop :
November 5 - Sharon Tenenbaum

Course Outline :
Sharon Tenenbaum is thrilled to share her creative journey in bringing the captivating series Inside-Out to life. Through a before-to-after demonstration, she will vividly portray the evolution of her workflow, showcasing the intricate steps that led to the final masterpiece. With unwavering passion and a clear vision, Sharon will walk her audience through the initial conception of ideas, the meticulous planning, and the dedication poured into each aspect of the series. As she unveils the gradual transformation from raw concepts to polished visuals, her viewers will gain a deep understanding of the artistic choices, technical prowess, and emotional depth that define Inside-Out. By generously revealing her process, Sharon aims to inspire and connect with fellow artists and enthusiasts, encouraging them to embrace their creativity and embark on their own transformative artistic journeys

Technical Knowledge:
Understanding Pre-Vision in creating an image and a body of work.  Big-Picture Workflow in Photoshop as well as detailed tools in skills such as working with the PS Pen Tool and Gradients.  This presentation will not explain how to start working with these tools but will build upon the knowledge and will demonstrate Sharon's process of working with them. Additionally, Sharon will demonstrate her workflow with working with Vector Mask in conjunction with Gradients.

November 12 - David Duchens

Presentation of this style of image : I will explain in a few words about my creative vision and approach to this style of image.

Shooting considerations : I will give you advice, in order to obtain optimal images to carry out the initial retouching, starting in the best conditions.

Composition : architectural photography requires a lot of rigor. The elements that make it up, usually lines, have a very special importance, and also a meaning. The rules of composition related to architecture will be explained.

Development of the file in Camera Raw : the raw file, commonly called “raw”, being the most complete, since it is not processed by definition, it is from this that we will make the basic adjustments. Also, I will show you here some interface preferences settings, concerning the opening of files in general in Photoshop.

Opening the image in Photoshop : At this point, some additional adjustments will be made to the image.

Preparing selections: it is from this stage that the creative process will begin. Here you will learn how to make your choices, selecting different areas of the image, and thus preparing it for the next steps.

Creation of light effects: you will learn the different techniques that will allow you to create light effects relating to this style of image.

Sky replacement : a special attention will be paid to the creation of the sky. The sky replacement tool in Photoshop will be quickly presented, the idea here being rather to create your own skies, and therefore to study the technique. Again, several approaches will be discussed.

Creation of the general atmosphere : at this stage, several techniques will be explained. We will work here on contrasts in particular.

Corrections and finalization: this will involve making any small edits. I will also teach you two additional techniques, in order to refine the atmosphere in terms of the play of light.

Questions / Answers :
During the different stages of the 2 workshops, questions may be asked.
Also, 15/30 minutes will be devoted at the end of the workshop for a question and answer session.

Software needed :
